I am asking for your support for an event in Savannah next month – Climb Out of the Darkness.

This is an annual fundraiser for Postpartum Support International (PSI). The event is held annually around the world on or near the longest day of the year to shine the most light on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.  We will be walking to raise awareness about mental health issues related to motherhood such as postpartum depression and anxiety. This cause hits really close to home as I'm a new mom and I'm currently struggling with Postpartum Depression and Anxiety.  I'm aso dealing with D-MER (Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex) which means that whenever my milk lets down, I get a horrible feeling of doom and anxiety due to the fluctuation of my dopamine levels.  

Despite my best efforts to stay on top of my mental health by seeing my therapist regularly, even throughout my pregnancy (where I struggled with antenatal depression exacerbated by unresolved trauma of previous losses), I'm stil struggling every day with feelings of despair and anxiety.  No matter how much I try to be rational, mindful, positive, etc., I can't seem to get the reigns on it.  It's a very helpless feeling.  I've become so anxious that I've forgotten what it's even like to feel normal anymore.

I'm constantly working on this, but it's been really difficult.  It's impacted every aspect of my life and put a strain on every relationship in my life, which is really frustrating during what should be one of the happiest times in my life. 

So I'm participating in the Climb Out of Darkness in order to spread awareness and use my story to help others who might be feeling the same, because nobody should have to go through this alone.
