Climb Out of the Darkness® is the largest event in the world that raises awareness and critical funds for the mental health of moms through Postpartum Support International (PSI). We gather as a community of fellow survivors, supporters, and providers to walk, climb, and raise awareness.

What does PSI Georgia Do?

  • We train medical & healthcare providers across Georgia to better screen, serve, and support the emotional needs of their moms

  • We educate moms & their families about what they are experiencing and refer them to knowledgeable and trained professionals across Georgia

  • We advocate for improved healthcare for all moms & families across our state

Last year, the Georgia Chapter of PSI, gathered more than 430 people across 13 Climb locations across the state for Climb Out of the Darkness and raised $22,031 dollars - the largest amount raised by any chapter around the world. This year our plan is to double that and raise $40,000 to promote awareness, prevention, and treatment of maternal mental health issues in the state of Georgia.

While there is a need, PSI Georgia will train at least two providers in each of the Climb locations to create a safety net for all Georgia moms and families. That promise becomes a reality next week as we provide a two-day, in-depth professional certification training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to more than 115 providers from across the state. Each one of the 13 communities that hosted a Climb in 2018 will now have formally trained support in their area - some for the first time. This training will focus on how to help pregnant women and new moms experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (like postpartum depression).

You can play a direct role in bringing expert mental healthcare to women across our state. Won’t you please consider supporting moms, babies, and families in Georgia? Even if you are unable to donate, PLEASE join us on June 22nd in Grant Park.
