In December 2017, my son was born and two months later I was diagnosed with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder. My journey to recovery began with an internet search and finding Postpartum Support International. Within a day of reaching out to someone in the PSI community, I met with someone face-to-face who understood what I was going through. They reassured me that I wasn't alone, this wasn't my fault, and I would be better soon. 

My interaction with PSI did not end there, I attended PSI's online support group over the next several months and in June of 2018 I attended the first annual Climb Out Of The Darkness Walk in my area. Meeting other survivors, PSI committee members, and sharing this event with my family was just another layer of support and healing. Along the walking path there were decorated stones we could take... I chose the stone that said "You are.... BRAVE". This had become my montra throughout my journey. Bravery to speak up, bravery to ask for help, bravery to accept help, and bravery to help others. 

Today, I am a PSI Coordinator. I offer peer support to families in my community, and I am passionate about making sure that families, no matter where they live, know about Postpartum Support International and the resources they can provide.

The procedes will provide training to providers, resources to families in Indiana and will help others feel brave enough to take that next step; whether it's the first of the climb, the one at the summit, or somewhere in between.
